What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is the technique of applying a gentle pressure to the feet and hands in order to bring about a state of deep relaxation, stimulate the body's own healing process and to help the body return to a state of balance and wellbeing.
Reflexology is based on the theory that there are reflexes on the feet and hands that correspond to different organs and parts of the body, these are linked through energy channels and zones. Energy channels can become blocked during illness or stress and Reflexology is applied to help break down these blockages to allow the energy to flow freely and restore the body's natural balance.
Reflexology is a very popular alternative therapy. It may help with many conditions, including:
Sleep disorders;
Breathing disorders;
Stress and anxiety;
Hormonal imbalances;
Fertility issues;
Stress related digestive disorders.
It should be noted that while Reflexology may help with the above it should not replace medical advice. Reflexologists do not diagnose or cure.
What happens during a treatment?
Reflexology is a holistic therapy. I will go through a detailed consultation, looking at all aspects of your health. You will then be asked to take off your shoes and socks, lie comfortably in a reclining chair, close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing, allowing you to relax and drift off. It is not uncommon to fall asleep during a treatment.
After the treatment I will run through a detailed conclusion and offer advice on lifestyle changes.
